Dr. Elliot Kaminetzky
Dr. Elliot Kaminetzky is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and the founder/Clinical Director of My OCD Care. He specializes in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety based disorders (phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety) in adults and children. His warm personality and sense of humor makes a potentially challenging treatment significantly more approachable.
He utilizes an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) enhanced approach to providing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) the gold standard treatment for these disorders. When possible, Dr. Kaminetzky accelerates OCD treatment by providing intensive exposure courses of treatment. His highly customized treatment plan includes a hybrid of individual and group therapy, in-person and via teletherapy to maximize likelihood of treatment success which he will work collaboratively with you on designing. He works closely with prescribing OCD specialized psychiatrists and other professionals to ensure collaborative care.
Dr. Kaminetzky is deeply committed to the OCD and anxiety disorder community. Dissemination of treatment and access to care is extremely important to him. To accomplish this, he provides training in ERP as well as professional consultation. His acclaimed My OCD Care lecture series has provided information about OCD and its treatments to thousands of individuals around the globe at no cost. Dr. Kaminetzky has lectured nationally about anxiety and OCD, most recently at NYU’s student counseling center and at ABCT in Atlanta. As an adjunct faculty for Pace University’s doctoral students in Clinical Psychology, he provides weekly clinical supervision in cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Kaminetzky also founded CBT Base Camp, a community for mental health professionals.
His approach to treating anxiety and behavioral issues in children relies heavily on empowering the parents to implement the treatment on their own guided by the clinician. He is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), by Dr. Steven Kurtz, one of only twenty-one PCIT master trainers. He has been trained by Dr. Eli Lebowitz of the Yale Child Study Center, Yale Medical School in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) which provides parents with the skills to implement anxiety treatment for their child.
