We have dedicated and compassionate experts helping people just like you. Even if you’ve tried therapy in the past
Hi! I’m Dr. Kaminetzky and I am an OCD and anxiety disorders specialist. I love what I do. I love it because I am able to help transform people’s lives. I have seen the therapeutic progress patients have made when they have totally invested themselves in the treatment.
I received my Ph.D. from Hofstra University – a program awarded for its training in cognitive behavioral therapy. I spent two years of my predoctoral training at The Reeds Center, a practice which specializes in OCD and anxiety disorders. Within Northwell’s OCD Center, where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship, I took a particular interest in group-based exposure therapy and started the Exposure Lab group which I continue to run out of my private practice.
Exposure therapy is the gold standard of care for OCD and anxiety disorders. I have dedicated my career to implementing the treatment according to the latest research in cognitive behavioral science.
It can be hard to manage on your own. We will assist you in reaching your goals using the latest and most researched anxiety treatment tools available.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is comprised of individual therapy, skills training class, phone coaching, and treatment by a team of clinicians. It was created by Marsha M. Linehan, Ph.D. to teach you skills for managing emotions and destructive behaviors creating a great deal of stress in your life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a collaborative and practical approach that can help you reach your goals. It is a time-limited and structured therapy that teaches you strategies to manage a range of challenges such as anxiety, depression, problems with eating, general dissatisfaction, and life changes.
We offer a variety of mindfulness-based treatments. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is designed to teach you how to relate to your thoughts differently and to live in the moment, helping to reduce and prevent depression and anxiety. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) assists with letting go of what cannot be changed and taking steps toward creating the life you want to live. We also incorporate mindfulness skills and practice into our CBT sessions.
Our therapists sometimes enhance anxiety therapy using virtual reality. This involves wearing a headset and having the therapist guide you through different computer-generated scenes related to the thing you are afraid of. For example, if you have a fear of flying, the therapist will guide you through different flying-related scenarios like the airport and airplane. Virtual reality is used to help treat things like flight anxiety, test anxiety, needle phobia, fear of heights, fear of public speaking, and claustrophobia.
