Dr. Michael Ambrose is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) across the lifespan. He specializes in using empirically supported treatments for a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties, particularly attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), disruptive behaviors, depression, anxiety, selective mutism, and body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB; hair pulling, skin picking, etc.) He has extensive training and experience using CBT with children, adolescents, adults, parents and
families.
Dr. Ambrose graduated magna cum laude from Yeshiva University with a bachelor’s in psychology. He received a master’s and PhD in clinical psychology from St. John’s University. Dr. Ambrose completed his APA accredited predoctoral internship at Kings County Hospital and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Empirically Supported Treatments for Children at NYU Child Study Center.
Dr. Ambrose has been involved in many clinical and research programs including Organizational Skills Training for children and teens, establishing a virtual intervention for selective mutism, and evaluating mental health concerns and bullying with food allergic
youth. He formally held academic appointments as a Clinical Instructor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Grossman’s School of
Medicine.
Dr. Ambrose is devoted to evidence-based, client-centered care. His approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. Dr. Ambrose acts in concert with the patient, family and other team members to meet therapy goals with a sincere, friendly and supportive approach.
