Dr. Stephen Puliafico is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of phobias, trauma, anxiety, depression and OCD. He is a graduate of Hofstra University’s PhD program and is licensed in New York State. Dr. Puliafico utilizes evidence-based approaches for adults, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center where he received extensive training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and treatment of substance use disorders. He has been working in private practice since 2018 and is thrilled to be joining the My OCD Care team.
Dr. Puliafico believes therapy is most effective when it is customized to a person’s particular context. He views the therapeutic process as a cooperative effort, meant to empower the client to live a fuller, freer life. He emphasizes self-compassion and mindfulness in his work, believing they are the basis for any meaningful and lasting change.
